Jubilee Lunch

Posted on

Over one hundred people enjoyed a very merry community lunch on Sunday 5th June to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. A decision first thing in the morning to put up lots of gazebos “just in case” managed to ward off the rain and we were even blessed with sunshine later in the afternoon. It was a great opportunity to catch up with neighbours, some seldom seen over the last couple of years, and there was much excitement about being able to hug each other.

Talk flowed along with the delicious Pimms and food (Judy’s coronation chicken was apt and delicious) and classy background music was provided by John on guitar. There was much applause (and a few tears) for the beautiful singing from the Littlehempston Folk Choir led by Cat and Jon, and the children’s entertainer kept the younger ones royally entertained.

A huge thank you to all who helped make this a very special day, and in particular the planning committee comprising Angela, Mary, Mel, Nicki, Sam, Val and Will. And to Mike who climbed the church tower to take a group photo!

In the 2012 Gallery you’ll find a village photo taken in front of the church on 4th June 2012 (the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee).

Thank you, Mo and Mike!

Sam, Mary, Ali and Mike (and Iza’s dog)

For many years, the Parish News has been delivered to your door by Mo and Mike Wright. Now that the Wrights are moving out of the parish (happily not too far away), Sam Prigmore and Mary Garner have offered to take their place and spent a happy afternoon with Ali Taylor and Mike Thomas (who also deliver the news) exploring the area and learning where everyone lives. A very big thank you to Mo and Mike for all their hard work!
