The rumours are true! The esteemed and wonderful Dr Dolittle has kindly agreed to attend the Littlehempston Dog Show at 3pm on Saturday, 24th July in the Community Meadow and will judge the Most Friendly Dog, Best Handler Under 12, Dog Most Like Its Owner, Dog That Wags Its Tail Most, and The Dog The Judge Would Most Like To Take Home. And for those of you that do not have a real dog, Dr Doolittle will pick out the Cutest Cuddly Toy Dog. Let’s showcase our wonderful dogs and their proud owners, and raise some much needed funds for the local parish. All are welcome. For more information on how to enter, go to the Dog Show event.

Also at the Show will be the ever popular Plant, Produce and Cake Stall, serving light refreshments, so you’ll be able to eat cake, drink elderflower cordial and shop for delicious local produce, whilst admiring the pooches in the parade ring.

Help needed! Donations for the Plant, Produce and Cake Stall will be very welcome – please bring along on the day. And if you can volunteer an hour or two’s help on the day, please get in touch.

Littlehempston Lottery as ever provides a steady source of income to support local activities – £129 from the June draw. The winning ball was drawn by Mel Mellows (pictured here). She and Will moved into the Old School House earlier this year and were delighted to help out, whilst having an excellent meal in the beautiful Tally garden. First prize was won by Gill Middleton (£103) and second by Vicky MacCleod (£26).

And Mel has offered to bake a Carrot Cake for the Cakeaway Service which has had a steady stream of customers – only £7 for a home-baked cake delivered to your door. Get in touch for more details.

Maybe you’re reading this, watching Wimbledon and wondering whether you could still swing a racket? Well, we’ve teamed up with the kind folk at Hemsford to make their tennis court available – in return, we’ll help maintain it and organise bookings. If you fancy a game, book your court by contacting Ali or Val – it costs £5 per person, with half going to Hemsford to help maintain the court and half supporting the Community Space.
