South Hams District Council have sent a list of our Christmas and New Year waste and recycling collection dates (click on it for a larger version).

Do you remember last year’s Christmas poster competition in the community meadow? Five of the winning designs have been printed as Christmas cards and are now on sale for £6 per pack of 10. On offer are mixed packs (2 of each design) or single design packs of Santa’s on the Roof by Jenny Galton Fenzi and Robin and Berries by Bill Jeffery. Thanks to all the artists: Ben and Romi Graves, Ruby, Bill and Jenny for their splendid artwork. Each card has Happy Christmas inside and a credit to the artist on the back along with in support of Littlehempston Church and Community Space.

A delightful mix of poetry and music entertained us all at the Space for Words evening at the end of October and proved a very special way of re-opening the Space after its long hibernation. Many thanks to local Devon poet, Chris Waters, for sharing his poems of nature and wild places near and far, rounding off with verse from his latest collection, London Clay. His friend and fellow poet, Chris Fogg, was most entertaining. Thanks also to Amanda Cuthbert, who read fifteen poems requested by local people along with dedications – all quite different and special, and she did justice to them all. And between the poems, there was John Garner, playing some beautiful pieces on guitar. What a lot of talent we have around us! And as well as having a good time, a most welcome £288 was raised for the Space, an enormous help in keeping the place going. Thanks to everyone who helped organise this event.

Many thanks to everyone that has donated to the defibrillator fund.  We have received grants of £600 in total from South Hams and Devon County Councils. Thanks to your gifts the GoFundMe page now has £811 (after their commission) of the original £750 target. So, we have now bought the defibrillator and cabinet and some spare electrode pads and are awaiting delivery. This should be in the Tally Ho porch in the coming month – thanks to Will offering to install and connect up a power supply. We have a surplus income of £210 which will go into a designated Parish Council Defibrillator maintenance fund for future replacement defibrillator pads (£47), and the internal battery (£230) when it needs replacing in five years. If anyone wants to continue to make a donation via the GoFundMe page, then with another £70 the project will be fully financed for 10 years.
