You can now support our beautiful combined Church and Community Space Grade 1 listed building by donating online. Fundraising efforts and regular income have been badly affected by the pandemic, and there are currently two projects that still need a hand.
Colin’s Memorial Plaque The late Professor Colin Platt was the driving force behind the re-ordering of the Church and it was his determination and enthusiasm that inspired the community to get behind this project. The Parish Church Council with the support of the Community Space Team have commissioned a commemorative wall plaque made in Welsh slate by stonemason Ben Jones. £1,350 has already been raised of the £2,050 needed – we need one last push to get us over the line!
East window repairs Would you like to sponsor a piece of beautiful history? Work is nearing completion on the Victorian east window damaged in last year’s storms and there is still the opportunity to sponsor the full or partial cost of £300 to repair a tracery. These are the intricately shaped sections of glass depicting sheep, eagles, flowers, crosses, scrolls and other designs that sit above the four main panels of painted, reeded glass. This work will not only keep the window in a good state of repair for the next 200 years, but also cut down on draughts and help reduce the heating bills. Vigorous fundraising efforts have raised much of the cost through grants and gifts, but contributions from the community would be much appreciated. Once we are allowed to gather in greater numbers indoors, master glazier, Andrew Johnson, will give an illustrated lecture about our window and the fascinating way the glass was produced.
Contributions to support the day to day running of the church, community space and graveyard maintenance are also welcome in these difficult times.
