Moth species recorded at Littlehempston Churchyard on 31 July 2014

We ran four 125W Mercury Vapour moth traps around the churchyard and the list below combines the catches from all of these. A total of 78 moth species were recorded on the night. None of the species seen on the night are rare, threatened or of any particular concern. Nevertheless, it is an impressive total for just part of a single night in a small churchyard and this is undoubtedly due, in part, to the areas of long grass and wildflowers that have been allowed to flourish. What’s more I’m sure you will agree that we all saw some very nice moths!
