This concert, from a talented team of local performers, aims to present a medley of voices of English writers and musicians from the 1914-18 War. It will focus particularly on their loving connection to the English countryside, and how this inspired their work.
Music and songs will be provided by Bob Barsby and Tom Morris. Readings from journals, letters and poems will be brought to life by members of Visible Ink, with guest readers. There will be a rare spotlight on women’s voices of the times. All this plus a book launch by Laurence Green, of his biography of the soldier-composer George Butterworth. We hope you will come along and ‘lend us your ears’ !
Tickets are £8 on the door. Refreshments available. All proceeds will be donated to the international charity Medecins Sans Frontieres.
