Cheers! Local pubs open this weekend

Happy days. The Tally Ho and the Pig & Whistle will be welcoming back customers from this Saturday onwards. Both pubs have social distancing measures in place and are offering tables inside and out. Best to book, as customers will only be served at tables.

Many of us owe a big thank you to Kelly and Mike Joiner for working hard to keep locals fed during lockdown with their tasty take-aways. And if you haven’t been down to the Tally in the last month, prepare for a big surprise, as they have also been busy giving the garden a stylish make-over. The planting is blooming lovely and there’s plenty of room to sit outside at the new colourful tables and chairs – all socially distanced – with cover from a sturdy canopy to protect from sun and rain. With fairy lights!

The Tally will be open during its normal hours for drinks. Chef Paul is back in action with a great new menu and you can enjoy a lunchtime meal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and in the evening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And if you’re still avoiding public places, the Tally continues to offer the usual takeaway service on Wednesday evenings and between 5 and 6pm on Fridays.

Phil and Donna at The Pig have also made the most of lockdown by extending and enhancing the outdoor seating area. The Pig will be open all weekend with meals served at lunchtime and in the evening, then shut for Monday and Tuesday to assess how things went and re-open from Wednesday, hopefully with normal service.

Like all pubs, our two locals have been put under an enormous strain over the last 3 months, and we are very lucky to have them both back in action. Do support them in whatever way you can, as they work to re-establish business. Drinking and eating well is not such a hard ask!
