Youth club goes Zoooom

Here’s a great report from Asher Levin:

I’m delighted to report that our first two Zoom Youth Club meetings were a great success. We had a wonderful hour of fun, playing games such as ‘guess what’s under the microscope’, ‘name that fruit or veg’, ‘two truths and a lie’ and ‘name that tune’ (kazoo version). It was also a really good opportunity for the 6 children to share some of their recent experiences and home-projects. It felt really worthwhile.

I was really glad that Val Hoare- administrator, co-ordinator and invaluable assistant at Littlehempston Youth Club – was able to join us and plans to join the next sessions.

At the end of the first session, I asked the children and they enthusiastically agreed they would like a twice-weekly session during this lock-down period, so that’s what we’re currently doing, meeting at 6pm every Tuesday and Friday evening.

Due to the technical challenge of running such a group on a video-conference platform – my control over the mute button came in really handy! – I am going to keep participant numbers to 8 in any one session. If there is much interest beyond that number, I will consider scheduling an extra session.

I am requesting contributions of £3 to £7 per session. If you are interested for your child to join (if aged 7 to 11 years old), then please email me, phone me on 0180 3863713 or WhatsApp me on 07999 934369.

Finally, I would love to share with you a Storytime video that I recorded. Feel free to share it with others who may enjoy: Mr Miniscule and the WHALE.

Best wishes, Asher Levin
