Great entertainment was had by all ages in the Community Space recently. First up was an amazing high energy performance of Behind the Mirror by Norwegian dance troupe, Panta Rei. The audience squeezed into every nook and cranny and were dazzled by the colours and fast acrobatic movement in this surreal interpretation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This was a Villages in Action funded event – VinA work hard to bring professional entertainment to rural places at subsidised rates. Thank you VinA for a wonderful evening and to Sandra Law for organising it!
Some of the money raised at this year’s fete funded a great afternoon of family entertainment, when a packed audience of children (and adults) were delighted by the skills of Ben Cornish in his Christmas Cabaret Comedy Show. Mulled wine, mince pies and delicious baked potatoes made by Nicky Oldridge followed. The afternoon was rounded off with the Tree Lighting and rousing carols in the Tally with the Totnes Band. All agreed it was a very fine start to the Christmas festivities and should become an annual event. Many thanks to all who helped make this possible. Ben’s booked for Fete 2016 on June 18th – get this important date in your new diaries now! More pictures in the gallery.
The Tally was packed to the rafters for a merry Villagers Night – delicious food, fine ale, good company and lots of laughs abounded. James and Adrian did sterling work selling raffle tickets, dressed as Christmas Puddings (in case you wondered) and Tracey provided the mystery prize – a singing dancing reindeer hat. The raffle raised £186 for community activities. The Village Lottery was also drawn and Val Nichols was the lucky winner of the first prize of £152. £190 was raised for the Community Space (to pay fuel bills and support further village activities) and there was a large cheer for Ken Wood who organises the lottery.
