Those attending the Littlehempston Lottery draw at the Pig & Whistle on September 23rd were sad that Colin Platt, who usually receives the donation on behalf of the Community Space, was not there to receive it (Colin died in July). However he showed his presence by winning the second prize! As his wife, Claire, remarked, he wanted “to show he is still working for the Space fund.” Claire donated the £30 prize to the Community Space. Thank you, Claire and Colin.
First prize was scooped by Gordon Stevens with third prize won by Gerald Hine-Haycock. Half of all Lottery money raised goes to funding the Community Space in Littlehempston Church, and this draw raised £180, which will go a long way to paying the fuel bills this winter.
The next draw is at Villagers’ Night on Wednesday 16th December. Over 37 villagers have won to date, so if you haven’t got your ticket yet, why not get in touch with organiser Ken Wood? You may get lucky, but in any case you’ll be supporting village life!
