It is unbelievable that in 2015 people are starving in our own area, but last month Rev Tom Benson and Hazel Hawkins from the Trussell Trust foodbank in Buckfastleigh gave a talk about what we can do to help local people who don’t have enough to eat. This foodbank is providing meals for families struggling to put food on the table.
As a result of this talk, it was agreed to collect donations for the food bank at Littlehempston Church – look out for the box in the kitchen area. They need tinned spaghetti, tinned potatoes, instant mash, tinned or packet custard, pasta shapes, UHT milk or milk powder, UHT fruit juice, sugar, biscuits, any tinned fruit, pet food, toiletries, coffee, sponge or packet puddings. But NO baked beans, tinned tomatoes, rice puddings, tea or jam, please, as they have plenty.
A couple of tins is nothing to most of us, but to people in need it can make all the difference. Please be generous.
