After a few flirtatious showers, the skies cleared and this year’s village fete was basked in sunshine. Record numbers of people filled the car park and enjoyed good food, ales and a host of stalls and activities. It seemed that most of Littlehempston was manning a stall along with back-up from friends and family and, boy, did everybody work hard! The Fun Dog Show started last year is developing into a big attraction with over 100 proud owners parading the ring with their dogs. Another attraction is that children can enjoy lots of activities without spending a fortune.
Many people commented on this being their idea of a perfect traditional village fete. And as well as having a merry time, the village raised a record £4,240. There’ll be donations to Berry Pomeroy School and Rowcroft; the majority of the proceeds will go to keeping Littlehempston’s beautiful church and Community Space open for all to enjoy!
Suggestions on how to improve the event are always welcomed by the small band of organisers – porta loos are definitely on the list for next year. If you have any bright ideas or would like to help, contact the Fete Team.
