Family and friends packed Littlehempston Church on July 31st to commemorate and celebrate the life of Corinne Joiner, who died suddenly on June 22nd. A quiet funeral had been held on July 1st, closely followed by son Lawrence’s wedding to Amanda.
In the words of her husband, John, it was “a moving and heart warming memorial service … presided over with luminous goodwill by Nicholas, our incomparable Rector.” In an Appreciation of Corinne, Liz Miller paid tribute to her quiet generosity and support for people in times of need plus an energetic and well organised contribution to community life over many years with evidence of this supported by the minutes of past Church and Village Fete committees!
John also said that Nicholas “has the gratitude of all my family and friends who attended. Just as important to record is the surge of help, both practical and emotional, which arose immediately after Corinne’s death…. It has been a warming insight into the esteem in which she was held. Thank you to all in the Parish – and beyond – who made the wedding such a spectacularly successful event, the memorial comforting and my life infinitely easier than it would otherwise have been. I have just received a letter from a friend, who ended by saying ‘ Corinne would have been proud’ That’s praise indeed.”
Corinne will be missed by all who knew her.
