It was a perfect day for the wedding of Amanda Harper and Lawrence Joiner at Littlehempston Church on July 6th. The sun shone, the bells pealed and the organ filled the church with sweet sound, as Lawrence waited a trifle nervously until Amanda, a trifle late as was the bride’s prerogative, walked up the aisle looking stunning, as did the accompanying bridesmaids and page boy. In fact, everybody scrubbed up pretty well for this memorable occasion. The Reverend Nicholas provided a happy service, despite slight trepidation at one point, when he produced a whip and a bit of string as a “visual aid” to describe the couple’s future. Relief all round, when this turned out to be a bridle symbolising Amanda’s work as head groom at the Mare & Foal Sanctuary and a starter cord for a mower, representing Lawrence’s gardening business.
After the wedding, guests drove through the sunny lanes to Victory Hall in Landscove, which had been beautifully decorated by family and friends. Pims on the lawn, delicious food, merry traditional dancing with a folk band plus lots of opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new people. A perfect day. Here’s wishing Amanda and Lawrence all the best for a very happy future.
