Events kick off with the VILLAGE PHOTO on Monday June 4th at midday at the church – a rare event and not to be missed. Then on Monday evening, Littlehempston will join with communities all over the UK and light a BEACON at 10.15pm. The venue is the Millers’ top field at Buckyette, near the entrance to Old Manor and Winton House – it’s all a bit muddy at the moment, so car access may be difficult. Last minute details will be given here and on posters around the parish. The big splash is on the afternoon of Tuesday June 5th with Val and John Hoare’s CREAM TEA starting at 3pm at Hemsover on Ackrells Hill. 1950’s dress is the order of the day and there’ll be a display of Exhibition Mugs – bring along your own (labelled) if you have one and any other memorabilia from 60 years ago. Donation of £5 per head requested – the event is in in aid of the Community Space Project. If possible let Val know if you’re coming or can bring cakes or scones (tel. 866 133). Please walk or park down in the village. Finally, on Sunday June 10th, there’s the JUBILEE WALK, organised by Mike and Mo Wright, starting and finishing at the Pig & Whistle. Start time is 10am and the full walk is 4 to 5 miles, so bring a picnic or treat yourself at the pub afterwards. This event is very family friendly – there’s a quiz with a children’s prize of a book donated by the Parish Council for the best submission for nature spotting during the walk. There’s more detail in the calendar.
